Love and Peace Canvas

Hello dear friends!  This is Carmen back with you for another great tutorial. October is for many a time for Halloween and to start decorating for Autumn.  But, it’s also Breast Cancer Awareness month and to recognize it, I’ve created this 8″ x 10″  Love and Peace canvas with some of my new The Crafter’s Workshop stencils.

I used one stencil design in 2 different sizes (6″x6″ and 12″x12″) TCW 584s and TCW 584 Love and Peace.

I started with an 8″ x 10″ stapled back canvas and I knew right away that some of the segments in the larger stencil would be too big for this canvas, but I was so happy to have it’s smaller counter part to use.

I adhered a layer of vintage book pages, music sheets and scrapbook paper to the canvas with DecoArt Decoupage Matte sealant.

Next I did a glaze of Americana acrylic paint in Soft Sage over the entire canvas to tone down the background.  Then using part of the 12″ x 12″ Love and Peace stencil I applied a mixture of DecoArt Media Line Crackle Paste and Watermelon Slice acrylic paint.

The smaller broken heart and words were the perfect size for this canvas.  I used Mulberry acrylic for the heart and outlined it with a charcoal pencil to define the “broken heart” look.  The words were created with Light Avocado paint and modeling paste to give them more dimension.

The larger stencil was then used for the phrase on the bottom.  Here you can see the crackle paste in detail.

This canvas is great to give to a special lady battling with Breast Cancer.  It’s an encouraging message that can be displayed all year long.

May Love and Peace fill your heart, even when it’s broken

So, don’t be afraid to mix and match the same design stencil in different sizes.  It can give you a totally new look and so many more options.

I hope you enjoyed today’s tutorial for The Crafter’s Workshop Design Team.

Please come back soon for more inspiration!

Blessings,
