Faux stained glass clipboard

One of the stencils I just love from The Crafter’s Workshop is called Tiled Flower. I hadn’t found a way to use it until I ran across an old mini clipboard in my studio. AtopSerenityHill.com #stainedglass #stencil #clipboardI wanted to use the clipboard as a place to add a favorite photo or quote so adding all the dimension to the base was not an issue. Here’s how I made my faux stained glass…

AtopSerenityHill.com #stainedglass #stencil #clipboardI started by priming the clipboard with a couple coats of white gesso. I then added color through the 12×12 Tiled Flower stencil with a combination of yellow, orange, red, green and white paint from the DecoArt Media mister line of sprays.

I let this part dry for about four hours.

This also helped fill in any parts of the design that still showed up white from the background.

I also sprayed the metal clip with white primer and a few of the DecoArt misters to help blend it into the design.

A super simple way to create a faux stained glass look! The only hard part is waiting for each layer to dry. Because of the dimensional quality of the black paint, you can’t really write on this clipboard directly but my plan was always to use it more for a picture holder. I love how it looks and think it will be fun to change out the pictures and quotes often to keep me inspired!

Thanks for joining me today!
