Hi friends! This is Carmen and I’m back with you sharing a tutorial with some of the new stencils from The Crafter’s Workshop! This week I received some really “Happy Mail” from them and in it was their new line of stencils for Summer 2015! Talk about excitement! After sorting through all the goodies, I decided to make a tag that I will be gifting as a bookmarker to a friend that is an avid reader.
These are so easy to make and slip into a card to gift to those family members or friends that are readers of books still (not kindles). They also make great stocking stuffers.
For this project here are the basic supplies: #8 Manila Tag, Americana DecouPage Paper and TCW stencils TCW588s Moroccan Sun and TCW585s Inspired Words.
I first cut a piece of the Americana DecouPage Paper Victorian Romance and adhered it to the tag using Americana Matte Sealer. These papers can be used for not only mixed media projects but also home decor projects.
I used portions of the Moroccan Sun stencil with Mink Tan acrylic paint to create a background and then the flowered heart with Heritage Brick acrylic paint as a focus point. The word Love from the Inspired Words stencil was perfect for this tag.
To give the tag a completed look I applied Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Fired Brick along the edges and then detailed the flowered heart with the Pigma Micron pen. The final touch was a small strip of lace that I had in my stash and added to the tag hole.
For these bookmarker tags I don’t add many layers or textures that will make the tag bumpy or thick and not able to close the book properly.
Isn’t it an easy and wonderful project? These are great to make a group of them in one sitting and have them handy to give away.
Thanks so much friends for visiting, I appreciate so much your support!
Blessings,
