Summertime Sea Creatures with Karenliz

Hi Everyone!
I love summer.
It’s my favorite time of year.
I’m excited to show you how I created this ocean scene on a $1.00 bin home décor item.

Here is the little wooden pallet décor item.
First you must sand it because it has a varnish on it and the paint will peal off.

I painted it with gesso and when it was dry I sprayed it with DecoArt Shimmer Mister in white.

I added these DecoArt paint colors to the background.

Yes, I just used by fingers.

Next step I added the Nautilus stencil (TCW500s) to the background in the same colors.

I continued to add layers and layers of the Nautilus stencil and added some white in between layers and on top. When I was finished with the layers it looked like this.

I mixed Liquitex glass bead texture gel and pearl fluid acrylic paint together for the shells.

The trick to creating a scene with texture gel or modeling paste is to have patience and to wait for each shell to dry. I work on other things in between drying time. The Sea Creature stencil TCW496s has a seahorse and shells. The seahorse was added with super heavy gesso and I added the glass bead texture gel on after it dried.

I used these colors for the shells and seahorse.

I decided I loved the idea of a pink seahorse.
Here is a close up of the glass beads.

I also added some smaller beads at the bottom.
