My life this summer seems to be in fast forward! So I turned to one of my favorite ways to quiet my mind and de-stress…doodling.
This double page spread took a few hours to complete but by doing a little each day, I was able to add a little quiet to my hectic schedule.
I started the whole page off with the Striped Flower Circle stencil and some Tumble Dye spray in neon green. On the left side of the page, I sprayed directly through the stencil. I then flipped the wet stencil over onto the right side of the page to print the design.
With a Sharpie pen, I loosely outlined most of the shapes that the spray and stencil had created.
I then added Tumble Dye neon pink through the same stencil. This time I sprayed through the stencil on the right page and flipped the stencil to print the design on the left page…lining up the stencil as best I could.
To add more pops of color to all the shapes I used two of my favorite supplies…Inktense pencils and a waterbrush.
Then the doodling part began! I started with the individual flowers first, leaving the background to the end.
The only tools I used to doodle with were a Sharpie pen, a Pitt Big Brush black marker and a white gel pen.
Once all the main parts of the design were filled in, I used a simple swirl pattern in the background to tie all the elements together. I absolutely LOVE how it came out! And, bonus…the goal of de-stressing was accomplished! How do you use art journaling and/or doodling to decompress?
Thanks for joining me today!

So pretty Consie!!! Gorgeous
Thanks, Karenliz! The page just makes me happy!
Beautiful! I like to color and doodle when I get stressed, too. I also color when I can’t sleep. I have had chronic insomnia for years. I have tried everything the doctor and my friends and family recommended, but nothing helps as well as coloring. An hour in my craft room coloring, doodling, journaling, and stamping helps me to decompress. Then I can usually fall to sleep. If I wake up a few hours later and have trouble getting back to sleep, I head back to my desk for a few more minutes of creative therapy! It works for me.
Thanks! I’m so glad you found something to help you sleep! Art is amazing in so many ways.
thank and colourss very much for your beautiful design
