Nature Canvas by Shanna

Hello everyone out there! I (Shanna) am up today with a new creation to share with you. Lately, I have been on this nature kick. I want nature all around me and just this beautiful oasis in my head I thought to add a little of it to a wall.

So I altered a canvas with some tags and created a nature like piece.

I was playing around with this canvas a long time ago and wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with it so I tucked it away for a rainy day. Then I got this idea to use it for this piece.

I started with some tags. I thought to play with the Distress Paint Resist technique. I used a foam pad and with the stencil  Mini Believe Script (TCW541S).

Once that was dry I went over it with Distress Ink or Distress Stain (or water soluble mediums) and the Distress Paint will resist the water mediums.

Here you can see how well the paint came through the with the ink.

Next I used some Velvet Dimensional Paint with the stencil Bay Branches (TCW534S). I wanted it to stay in the natural look but wanted some extra shine. So once the paint dried I went over it with some Inka Gold for that extra shine.

Before I adhered the tags to the canvas, I used the same Distress Paint I used on the tags to add the dragonflies from the stencil Screen Print (TCW525) in the background. I also used a stamp to add some coffee ring splashes just for a little extra.

Then on some plain white cardstock I used some Black Soot Distress Ink to ink some words from the stencil Word Association (TCW527S) on the paper to add to my tags.

I just love how this turned out overall and I hope you find some inspiration from this fun piece. Now to find a place to hang it!

Thanks so much for stopping by, Shanna…The Crafter’s Workshop Design Team Member.
