Hello everyone I am beyond excited to share my first creation I created for The Crafter’s Workshop. I am still just tickled happy to be a part of the team and can’t wait to help inspire all you lovely crafty people out there.
Lately, I have been playing in my art journal at least once or twice a month or more if I feel the urge to just play. I pulled out my stencils, my mixed media bin, and went to work creating this lovely page to share with you all.
I wanted to play with some of my favorite colors and have some bits of black for that added pop. I thought with Summer on the way these colors just seemed to be perfect.
I adhered some tags down for texture and gave my page a coat of gesso – very important for playing with gelatos. Remember, have fun and don’t think about it. So I squiggled three colors on the page (randomly) and then went in with a baby wipe to blend it all in and out.
Then it was time to play with my stencils. I started with the Radar Remnants (a new favorite of mine). I really wanted you be able to ayer more color on my page and wanted the first layer to show through. So the best thing to play with would be a gel medium but I wanted dimension so I used 3D Gloss Gel.
I gave it a thick layer and let it dry. The thicker though the longer the dry time. Make sure you clean off your stencil right after too.
Now it is time for another favorite stencil called Kaledidoscope.
I used a make up sponge to smooth the ink through the stencil. Talk about fun, quick, and accurate placing. I love my make up sponges and they are washable too, perfect for continuous use on stencils.
I added more of the same gelatos from before to create more color and then started with my next MUST HAVE STENCIL, Well Rounded. I grabbed some black ink and used my sponge to add some pop of “in your face color.”
Doesn’t the black really add some ooo and ahh!
I added some of those new Tim Holtz chit chats (the big ones) and then used a white gel pen to add more for the eye from the Well Rounded stencil as well.
