Creative decor project with stencils

Hi Everyone, It’s Beck Beattie here today to share with you a creative use for your stencils on a home decor or gift wrapping project idea.  Stencils help you create shapes that you may otherwise not have the ability such as drawing them  yourself.  The designer has done the work for you!  I created this present decoration to share with you some fun techniques.

So I wanted to share with you how I used the new The Crafter’s Workshop Postcard template:

Capture

How beautiful and versatile is this template!

To get started I placed some washi tape around the shape in the stencil I wanted to feature on the project.  I then stenciled some Imagine Crafts Metallics Creative medium in Gold onto plain brown wrapping paper numerous times

step 1

To add a little sparkle I sprinkled some Stampendous Shaved ice onto the stenciled flowers while wet and then used a heat gun to dry them.  It also shriveled the shaved ice a little as well which I liked.

step 2

To make the flower I stenciled some gesso onto an additional piece of the brown wrapping paper with a baby wipe.  I created 4 of these and cut them out as individual flowers

step 3

To make the flower a little more dimensional I sprayed a little water on the back of each flower and folded and scrunched them before drying with a heat gun

step 4

Lastly I adhered all the layers together, added some beautiful Kaisercraft bling in the centre and then added some of the creative medium paste to the edges of all the petals.  While still wet I dipped it into the Stampendous shaved ice for a little extra glam.

step 5

Here is a picture so that you can get up close and a little more personal with my pretty flower.  Don’t you just love the layers and dimension!

This flower making technique could easily be added to material – you could simply trace the pattern and layer up by stitching or gluing the material layers in the middle to make a beautiful home decor accessory, head band decoration, broach or more.  The possibilities are truly endless with this fun technique.  There are also so many stencil designs that make wonderful decorative wrapping paper.

I would love to see your takes on my techniques if you get a chance to play along with me. Just share them on the Facebook page!

Hope you love my share today!!
