Tag Crazy!

Hey there artsy peeps Rita Barakat here and today I am sharing several techniques to use with your Crafters Workshop stencils! I was playing today with a Gelli plate and found it to be a perfect time to also play with some stencils. Here are three results on tags – I went tag crazy today!

Tag 1 – pour some acrylic paint on the Gelli plate.

Use the brayer to spread the color around, lay the first tag down and let dry. Spread the left over color around with the brayer.

Added a stencil.

Press the same tag on top and get a tone on tone color.

Tag 2- A tag that already has a base coat, put a stencil on top and use gel paint on top. I used Radiant Gels – gel paint has a little more body so it doesn’t run underneath the stencil.

Tag 3 – Use Gelatos to draw on the stencil and spread the color around with a dry sponge.

Tag 4 – Use inks to add color, different inks have different effects.

Fun stuff! I love these stencils! Whats nice about tags is you get quick results! So what about you? Think you might be going tag crazy any time soon?
I think you will like it! Just Sayin’ 😉

Blessings!

  1. I love making tags but have questions on what to do with them? I reinforce mine with cardboard and decorate both sides..lots of stencils and embellishments . Too thick and chunky to use as book marks, attach to a gift bag, give tag as a gift??? What are others doing with them? Thanks for any ideas.

    1. Hi Eloise – if you dont reinforce them with cardboard you can use them as book marks(I cover with gel medium or glaze first so there is no transfer) . It makes for a sweet gift when people come over and it’s already on their place mat. Sometimes I add a quote or scripture. This is also a way to lift someones spirit – I have left them with a tip. I have used them for gift tags, in a mini book -as a pull out of an envelope and as a different size page. The can be journaling blocks on a page or a mat for a special photo/stamp on a page or card. A note in someones lunch. Cut off the top and cut letters out of it, if there are some similar maybe you can group them together in a frame? Add a sentiment and make a magnet.
