Fragments and Bits with paint

Hi there, remember the cards I made a while back using Fragments and Bits with spray inks and a Big Shot? Well, the other day I tried the same idea, only changed the spray ink to a regular paint.

Here is how I did the backgrounds: Sanna Lippert I first cut some watercolor paper into suitable sizes and sprayed them with yellow, blue and green spray ink.

Sanna LippertNext I took out some stencils and started dabbing some Distress Paint onto them. I started with the small “Fifties Clock” stencil and orange paint.

After I had enough paint on the stencil, I carefully placed it over the spray inked background and since this particular stencil was too big to fit into the Big Shot, I used a brayer to apply the paint onto the card background. Works as well as the Big Shot, except that you will not get a letterpress kind of image out of this technique.

For the next card I used the “Single Feather” Balzer Bit and green Distress Paint. This time I ran the paint covered stencil thru the Big Shot and the image is similar to a letterpress image.

I did the same with blue Distress Paint and “Crosshatched Frags”. I really like this one a lot!

Finally I used the “Pods Fragments” stencil and dabbed pink, orange and red Distress Paint onto the surface and ran it thru the Big Shot again. There are so many variations you can create with this basic idea.

And here are the finished cards:Sanna Lippert

After finishing the backgrounds I glued them down on white card bases and added stamped sentiments, some doodling around the edges and ink splatters in various colours. There are also some silver and gold wax crayon splodges here and there. If you want the images to stand out more, you can go around them with a black pen, like I did on some of the cards.

I hope you will give the small stencils (Bits and Fragments) a try! They are quite a lot of fun to play with!
