The supporting actor

Hi Everyone well the new year is nearly here and I am excited to be here once again sharing one of my years memories via a scrapbook page.  I’m a strong believer that the photo should always take centre stage on my layouts so although I always love to play with lots of yummy products they should always be a supporter to the photo as is the background work done on this layout with the help of The Crafter’s Workshop sea creatures stencil.  I knew this stencil would be just perfect for my layout capturing a memory from our time at the beach today. Before you get confused regarding the seasons … as I am in Australia it is summer here of course, and I am enjoying some lovely family time travelling the coast in my state on our Summer holidays!

To create the background I started by adding some carpet tape with the plastic removed to the cardstock.  As this has a sticky finish I applied a coat of gesso to it as well.  As you can see it has been placed with uneven edges.

step 1

sea creatures I then took my sea creaturesmini stencil and added some colour to the page with the ‘butterscotch’ Faber-Castell Gelato using a sponge that was very lightly moistened.   I simply rubbed the sponge onto the gelato and then in a gentle circular motion added the stencilled images to the page.step 2

I also added more colour using gelatos and some water to tie the page in together.

step pictureI then built up my embellishments around these stencilled images supporting the design which was following a sketch by Nadia Canizzo with more ocean themed pieces and words as well as the ‘leading actor’ the photo of course!
