Using The Crafter’s Workshop stencil as a starting point for your landscape painting

If you are like me and feel intimidated by landscape painting, why not use The Crafter’s Workshop stencils as a starting point? You can use the stencils to trace out the images or use them to create some dimension on your mixed media landscape painting. Here’s how I did mine…

I started with an 8×8 canvas that I covered with wrapping tissue using matte medium. After a layer of gesso, I added some bold colours using Derwent Inktense blocks and water.

Then I stamped with a Stampers Anonymous stamp and Ranger Archival ink along the edges for some texture and interest.

I placed the Branches Reversed TCW251 stencil on the edge on my canvas, then applied Liquitex Light Modeling Paste.

I “finished” my tree by adding some Golden Gold Mica Flakes.

I added a little more stamping to “frame” the photo of my niece.

There you have it, a mixed media landscape painting. 🙂

Cheers,
