Do you wonder how people get that layered look on their art journal pages? Hi Rita Barakat here to talk about layers and The Crafters Workshop stencils!
First no need to have a totally clean page- I am going to cover it anyways. Today I am starting with Cherry Blossoms TCW177 and a little Twinkling H20 paint! Swirling my stencil brush over my stencil.
Here is how it looks – note the unclean background…it’s all good!
Next I misted over my stenciled page with Lindys Stamp Gang in Hydrangea Blue & Ruby Lantern Lime. I used a paper towel and a brayer to pick up some excess – this also leaves nice marks on the page from the pattern in the paper towel.
I want a little texture so I add some clear gesso and spread with a brayer. The also is giving me a definite layer between this and the next layer of paint.
I don’t clean my brayer very well so it leaves texture on the page!
Now I go back with another layer of paint with the stencil.
Now how about mixing some texture paste with Bells of Ireland Green and Hydrangea Blue…
I added my pictures and the mixed texture paste around the pictures. Then I grabbed the stencil again and spread the texture paste over the stencil. Then I misted the page again being careful to cover my picture with a scrap piece of paper so they would not get misted.
Here’s a last look! Are you ready to try layers now? You can totally do this! 😉
