Happy Thursday! Sue here with a canvas project highlighting TCW stencils and Dusty Attic Rusting Powder.
Above are the stencils used for this project
My canvas is a 10 X 10 Wood panel. I found this one at JoAnn Fabrics for $5.59. (click on wood panel for link)
Step 1 : Cover with Gesso
Next I used TCW450 Art Deco Leaves along with Lindy’s Stamp Gang’s “Greased lightening green” to begin the background of the canvas.
As I “spritz” I keep paper towels on hand to blot, and I couldn’t resist using the paper towel itself to add some fun texture! I adhered it to the panel with matte medium.
Below, you can see the combination of Super Heavy Gesso with one of my new favorite stencils…TCW380 Grandma’s Doily.
Next, for some fun with The Dusty Attic’s Rusting Powder.
Using some type of liquid adhesive or embossing ink, stencil the design.
While still wet, sprinkle Rusting Powder over the wet stenciled design… TCW407 Stacked Triangles (see below)
Tap off excess powder onto a sheet of paper to put back into the jar.
Spray powder design with white vinegar, and let dry.
I absolutely loved working with these beautiful stencils, and so I got a little crazy creating more designs with old book pages.
For more detail, I “rusted” this little wood piece from my “stash.”
Look at the cool design left underneath after “dusting and spraying!” I will use that another time
Using some of the book pages, I punched out squares to add to the canvas.
Don’t forget to add color to the panel sides!
Below are the Tim Holtz Sets I used to add the squares and sentiment.
As always, it’s a joy to share with you!
Thank you for reading! I hope you learned something new:)
