I was recently challenged to make a canvas based on a previous project I had created and while making that piece I took some step-by-step photos that I would today like to share with you.
This is the canvas I created:
and here is the step-by-step process:
I first applied a relatively thick layer of struckture paste with a palette knife onto a piece of canvas. I used the 6×6 inch “Deco leaves” stencil here.
After the paste was dry I applied some acrylic paint in pastellic tones over the pattern and around the edges.
Then I added some white ink splatters using a regular paint brush. I love to use colour splatters :).
Then I went along and added some chipboard elements for additional detail. These I colored with Distress Inks using a water tank paint brush.
Before adhering the pieces (chipboard and the silvery flowers) on their places I added some small silver spray ink splatters for additional contrast.
Then I glued all pieces on their places. The word “Bloom” is written with a brush pen that has a really nice glittery shine to it. I then fussy cut and glued it down onto the canvas. After gluing the flowers onto their places I also wiped some thick matte pink acrylic paint with a very dry paint brush over them for additional detail and more depth.
I also added some “chrystals” to my canvas. They hang down on wire pieces and are a nice additional detail.
I hope you have enjoyed this little step-by-step!
Have fun creating!
