The Creative Process with Rita

Rita Barakat TCW stencils Mixed media
Do you ever get so excited and into the creative process that you forget to take pictures? Yep that happens to me all the time! Hi Artsy peeps Rita Barakat here with my first DT post for the Crafters Workshop! YAY! Today I have finished a 12×12 canvas using lots of stenciling! I don’t have step out pictures but I can give you tips on my creative process! Up close you can see that I am a big fan of layers – first a layer of gesso, the Gelatos. I really like using The Crafters Workshop stencils and a dry sponge to rub the Gelatos onto the page. These tiny sweet stars are from the Punchinella TCW219 stencil.

In the to top right I used whipped spackle with the Flutterby TCW206 stencil, then I went back with a dry sponge dipped in Gelato to the raised images.

On her dress you can see my favorite stencil the Flower Frenzy TCW157! The pattern was done by drawing directly on the stencil then rubbing the color in with a dry sponge!
