Stenciled layout background

Hello there! Today I´d like to share with you a mixed media layout background on which I used several stencils from the new collection. Here is a little photo step-by-step on how I crated the background:

I first applied some yellow and light pink spray ink onto the white cardstock and let that dry. Next I took the Retrobursts stencil and placed it over the paper and applied some grey dye ink with a ink blending tool thru the stencil.

Then I took the Texturized stencil and first added some blue Distress Paint thru it onto the background. Then I just turned the stencil around and pressed the paint that was on the stencil surface onto the paper. This created a nice negative image and no paint went to waste.

I then did the same using another pattern form the same stencil with a green Distress Paint. Here I again used both the positive and the negative image.

And this is how the finished background looks like. I also added some color splatters and stamping for additional detail.

See the cross pattern – that is a residue paste from a previous project. I usually wipe all residue paste onto a random piece of paper (mostly using a stencil), that way no paste goes to waste. The stencil I used here is also from the new collection (“Crossed“).

And this is how the finished layout looks like. I´ve added lots of little embellishments (precut paper embellishments, puffy stickers etc.) as additional detail.

Happy stenciling,
