Hi there, Sanna here again! I recently came across a really nice technique over at Pinterest and immediately wanted to try it out on a layout. The TCW Stencils are just prefect for this technique :).
I have used following products on this layout: white cardstock, the Circle Grid (12 x 12) stencil, a black pen, Distress Inks (scattered straw, wild honey, worn lipstick & ripe persimmon), ink blending tool, craft sheet, letter stamps, rub-ons, embellishments.
I first wiped a layer of yellow Distress Ink thru the stencil onto the cardstock. I used the lighter tones for the first ink layer (scattered straw & wild honey).
Next I shifted the stencil slightly to the side to be able to create a shadow/3D effect. This way a part of the first layer of yellow color will be visible after adding the second color on top. After that I applied the stronger colors over the first layer. Since Distress Inks will blend, I kept within the same color range, otherwise you will end up with mixed “dirty” color tones.
Now you have this great shadow/3D effect on your background paper. You could leave it like this or outline the circles using the stencil as a drawing guide. I went for the second option, since I wanted to add some more contrast on my page.
Next I just added various rub-ons (Tim Holtz & Basic Grey), letter stamping and embellishments to finish the page. My journaling is hidden behind the photo :).
So, I hope you have enjoyed this little tutorial and will try it out yourself :)!
Happy stenciling,
xoxo, Sanna
A really great technique, so simple but very effective. Will definitely be trying this.
Huippuidea! Ja hieno leiska (kuten kaikki kesän upeat projektisi).

Fabulous technique…..really looks stunning…loving the black outline:):):)
I think it might have been the technique I did recently that you saw Sanna. LOVE your what you did here 🙂
So cool – I have to give this a try one day!
