How I Created My Mystical Forest

In my dreams I wandering around the forest and come to this area of gorgeous colors. The colors of the leaves are in greens, pinks, blues, and purples. I’m wondering what I would see beyond this beautiful dense forest and push through and see ……. I wake up.

Bummer right? I decided since I never saw what was beyond the beautiful colors, I can try to create the forest in my dream.

I used only one stencil, TCW831 Faithful Tree, and for added texture I used TCW9005 Modeling Paste.

The Crafters Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

I started by adding a layer of TCW9001 White Gesso and TCW9016 Spun Sugar Heavy Body Acrylic Paint to the board.

When it was dry I added dark blue paint to the board and layed the stencil on top and used a baby wipe to pick up the paint through the stencil. Now I have a background in blue and white.

Using a baby wipe I removed the paint through the stencil to the design in blue and white.

Next I added the stencil to the board with modeling paste. I was using the 12″x 12″ stencil and I waiting for the modeling paste was dry before adding more. The last layer of modeling paste was added on top of the existing paste. You have to make sure your first layer is completely dry before adding another layer. If you don’t wait the bottom layer will smear and may be unrecognizable unless you want it that way.

You will notice in the above picture that it’s not perfect. I don’t care weather the design was perfect. The forest has many textures and types of leaves so it didn’t bother me.

I waited for the modeling paste to completely dry before I started painting. I used paint in greens, blues, pinks, and purples to create the tree in my dream.

Here if my finished forest. Can’t you imagine being in front of all these colors and wondering what could be behind it?
