Winter 2014: Hourglass & Cafe Latte

Hello it’s Ronda here!  Today i am continuing to debue some of my new Ronda Palazzari Designs/The Crafter’s Workshop stencils.  I am so excited to share with you these new releases, including 14 new stencils & 10 Brand New “Ronda’s Fragments.”  These new little masks pack a punch, perfect for art journaling, gelli prints, tags, project life, scrapbooking, cards, & much much more.  I have been working hard to bring you creative inspiration along with new videos!

Ronda Palazzari Triangles 2

i love a good background stencil.  Really LOVE.  i find them so versatile.  This hourglass stencil is such a cool pattern and can be used for so many different projects.  Think bowties or pinwheels.  It’s one you will use over and over again.  What is great about this stencil is that it can be turned to complete the square shape.

Ronda Palazzari HourGlass 6x6 Stencil

The petite 6×6 size is so completely adorable.  On the left tag, i sponged black paint over the the colorful background.  Love it in that bold black!  On the right tag, i turned the stencil to complete the box shape.

Ronda Palazzari HourGlass 12x12 Stencil

The 12 x 12 design is about an inch per square.  On the left tag, i sponged two paints through the stencil.  On the right, i stamped the reverse which ends up being the same as if you would turn the stencil.

Ronda Palazzari from Abstract to Reality

On this layout i used the 12×12 stencil to create a neutral backdrop for my color photos.  i used watercolor crayons in grey tones and painted them with the stencil in place.  i did the light grey triangles first and then rotated the stencil a quarter to paint the dark grey triangles.  i love how the triangles have fluid edges and the crayons create depth in each piece.  i could see doing the whole background like this!

Ronda Palazzari Decisions Art Journal

On this art journal page, i used the 6×6 hourglass stencil with some molding paste (or modeling paste).  I love the feel of this page with those bright yellow/orange spots combined with the cool greens & blues.  You might even spot a stencil fragment on this page ;)

Cafe Latte is such a fun hand drawn stencil.  Whether you’re a tea or coffee person, you are sure to love this stencil.  It’s great for cards, tags, scrapbook pages, project life pockets, or art journal pages.  You can use the shadow, outline, or both to create.  Of course we need accoutrements to our drinks, so i just had to include the coffee beans, tea bags, and steam!

Ronda Palazzari Cafe Latte Stencil

i wanted you to see the 6×6 & 12×12 stencils next to one another to get a feel for their size.  i used both the shadow & outline for these tags.  How cute would it be to attach a gift certificate to the back of the tag as little gift for that special friend?

Ronda Palazzari Nearby

It’s no secret i am a tea drinker.  i usually start with a cup of english breakfast in the morning.  i might have another one of those or a cup of chai in the afternoon.  At night, i love a mint tea or a green tea.  As you can see, a cup of tea is always nearby!

Stay tuned as I will be sharing all my new stencils this month. Are you ready to see them all?  These stencils are sold online and in Brick & Mortar stores.  Ask your favorite retailer to carry them!

Winter 2014: Quatrefoil Reverse & Rose Window Stencils

Hello it’s Ronda here!  Today & the rest of this month, i will be debuting my new Ronda Palazzari Designs/The Crafter’s Workshop stencils. So are you ready for the first debuts?

Design 2-2

This stencil harkens back to those old church abbeys with those big beautiful stained glass windows.  I love the verstality of this stencil.  With big open areas, you can use this stencil is so many different ways including paper piecing or cutting photos into a unique shape.  It’s a great template for quilters too.

Ronda Palazzari Rose Window 6x6 Stencil

The Rose Window looks great in the 6×6 size.  On the left, I sprayed the tag with Dylusions & Maya Road mists and then used white paint through the stencil.  On the right tag is the reverse image of the stencil using Dylusions.

Ronda Palazzari Rose Window 12x12 Stencil

The Rose Window looks great in the 12×12 size too.  On the left, I painted the tag with and then used spray paint through the stencil.  On the right tag is the reverse image of the stencil with the spray paint left on the stencil. Look at those great open spaces!

Ronda Palazzari The Best Card

This card was featured on Simon Says Stamp blog and has inspired another project you will see tomorrow.  I used the 6×6 Rose Window stencil with lots of bright colors.  I completely adore the look of this card!

This layout also uses the 6×6 stencil in multiple ways.  I knew I wanted to do some paper piercing with this stencil so I selected a pattered paper and used it to build the colors.  I loved the softer distress inked images against that awesome pieced image.

And here’s a sneak of an art journal piece you will see tomorrow using the 12×12 Rose Window stencil.  Not only do you get to see this beautiful page tomorrow but I will share a video tutorial detailing how to I created this art journal piece.

My very first stencil release with the Crafter’s Workshop included the regal Quatrefoil stencil.  It has been a favorite among many readers/consumers.  The question I am always asked since its release was “when are you going to make the reverse image?”  The answer is NOW.

Ronda Palazzari Quatrefoil Reverse 6x6 Stencil

The Quatrefoil Reverse looks great in the 6×6 size.  On the left, I painted the tag and then used acrylic spray paint through the stencil.  On the right tag is the reverse image of the stencil using spray inks.  It’s such a pretty pattern!

Ronda Palazzari Quatrefoil Reverse 12x12 Stencil

The Quatrefoil Reverse looks great in the 12×12 size too.  On the left, I used some spray inks through the stencil.  On the right tag is the reverse image of the stencil with the spray inks left on the stencil.  Those open spaces on the left would look great colored in or even pieces of patterned paper popped up.

Ronda Palazzari AM Routine

On this layout, i used the 12×12 with a variety of distress inks.  I love those blended areas and the transition of colors.  It really creates a stellar background for the building of layers to tell my story.

Pie Chart Tag

Hello it’s Ronda here today to share with you an artsy tag using my Pie Chart Stencil.

TCW341 pie chart

The 6×6 stencil Pie Chart is such a fun little size to use on any of your projects.  Like any of The Crafter’s Workshop stencils, you can it to mask & paper piece a design.

Ronda Palazzari Love Pie Chart

Take this Love tag for example.  After creating my background, I used the Pie Chart to trace the pie pieces on a 6×6 pad of various patterned paper.  I like the smaller patterns with those petite size pads.  On only two of the pieces, I sponge through the stencil to get the design using acrylic paint.

Ronda Palazzari Love Pie Chart details

Next I laid the pie pieces out on the tag just like the stencil to get my pie shape back.  I popped up a few pieces here and there to give it some dimension and added in a few embellishments to give it texture.  With a black pen I added faux stitching around the pie pieces. You could create this same design on a card, layout, or art journal page.

Ronda Palazzari Hipster

On this Hipster layout I used the same technique to paper piece the camera on the left side.  I love that stencils are really tools in the artists arsenal and can create so many different looks!

Nina’s Album Cover

P7070475Nina Rogano (Нина Рогано) is a Russian mixed-media artist who has sent us all sorts of fun links to her blog. She has promised to make some more projects using our stencils, but we just couldn’t wait. So here is one of our faves: An album that she created from scratch!

P7060331-001If you want to see the whole construction of the book, click here (it’s in Russian, but good ole’ Google translate helps out quite a bit!). I’ll show the highlights below.

(Love bookmaking!!)

P7060334-001

Spread PVA primer (glue?) on the bookboard. Spread the book fabric out, place the primed board face down, with 4mm space between the board pieces.

P7060336-001

Note the spacing of all of the bookboard pieces. (I think this may be a bookbinding kit…though you can cut your own bookboard if you have a sharp knife and a very good straight edge ruler.) Beginners – go for the kit!!

P7060337

With a quick drying glue, glue down the overlapping edges of the fabric to the back fo the bookboard.

P7060340

P7060338 Prime with a little more PVA glue on the front. Let dry.

P7060351

Nina used the 12×12 Woodgrain stencil (TCW236) plus modeling paste to create texture.

TCW236 Wood Grain revised

TCW236 Woodgrain Stencil

P7060346

Let this completely dry before adding more layers.

P7060353

From here, Nina added lace and chipboard cutouts (with PVA glue, I think.)

P7070445

Then she highlighted areas with very bright acrylic paint…let dry.

P7070449

And now tone it down with gold, bronze and silver acrylic paint.

P7070469

And here is the finished book cover! (Note the woodgrain texture on the lower left). Thanks Nina!!

Summer 2013: Twas the Night, Baubles, & Spinning Tops

It’s Ronda here again.  Are you ready to see some more new stencils?  They are already hitting the stores, both Brick & Morter and online.  You may even have them in your hands already.  I hope you enjoy creating with all 19 of my stencils.  Today i am sharing the last 3 of the 19, Twas the Night, Baubles, & Spinning tops.

Ronda Palazzari Twas the Nigh TCW394

Twas the Night is a great holiday stencil but can also be use throughout the year for many different projects.  This stencil, like Captured, is also great for Project Life, a December Art Journal, or Holiday Album.  Most of the shapes on the 12×12 stencil are 4×6.

Ronda Palazzari Twas the Night

It’s completely adorable in both sizes.  The smaller 6×6 would look great on tags for presents, as accents on a page or tag, home decor, etc.  Same goes for the 12×12 size.

Ronda Palazzari 25 PL page

I don’t do a weekly Project Life album but i love the way the pages look in my regular albums, especially when i have multiple photos i want to use. I love the way this stencil looks patterned paper.  I layered it with the 6×6 stencil too.

Ronda Palazzari Baubles TCW 390

Baubles is a great larger baclground stencil.  I love the open spaces to create layers using paint, stamps, another stencil, etc. Turn it on it’s side for a different look too!

Ronda Palazzari Baubles

I really love this stencil in both sizes.  On the left i used distress paints with the 6×6 stencil.  On the right i used the 12×12 stencil with distress inks.

Ronda Palazzari More

i used the 12×12 stencil to trace and cut out the white piece on this layout.  I then painted some colorful pieces to fill in behind the cut out as well as patterened paper.  I am super excited how this layout turned out.

Ronda Palazzari Spinning Tops TCW 387

Spinning Tops is a great background stencil that can add that special touch to any project.  Did you notice that it’s the reverse of Squiggles?  They look so different, yet now you can probably see the pattern in each.

Ronda Palazzari Spinning Tops

The spinning tops looks great in both sizes.  On the left, I painted the tag white and then used distress inks over the top.  On the right tag i used Ferro Special Effect Paste through my 12×12 stencil and then used Dylusions spray ink to add color.

Ronda Palazzari Grown

Grown uses both the 12×12 and 6×6 stencil.  I used a white paint resist with the 12×12 stencil on the background and then layered on colors.  After it dried i added modeling paste through the 6×6 stencil.  Did you also notice the Captured stencil & Well Rounded stencil on this layout?

Ronda Palazzari Summer 2013 Stencil Release

So there you have it, all 19 stencils.  Do you have one (or two) that must be in your stash?  Well i am giving away two sets of 6×6 Baubles & Spinning Tops today on my blog.   So head on over there to see how you can win these two stencils!
