Butterfly Magic | Canvas art

Welcome back Arty friends.  Today I wanted to share a canvas I made for my art studio.  I absolutely love it, and its so easy to recreate, anyone on any skill level can give it a try.

***The Crafter’s workshop provided me some products to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own. :)***

I have a full step by step tutorial for you to view here:

I start this page off by covering an old canvas that’s over 10 years old, with TCW Black Gesso.

I am adding some stenciling to the black, using TCW829 Heartful flowers and 3 bright colors.

Let it dry, and then add the next layer.  I used a favorite, TCW857 Sunflower Mandala with a light cream color and some iridescent teal blue.

Once dried, I add some gorgeous TCW Light and Fluffy modeling paste through TCW849 Butterfly reflection.  I really like this stencil.

Now lets make this pop.  Once dried, I start adding color to the texture paste, using the same colors as in the backgrounds, with pops of bronze and even add some yellow and blue to the background to mute some of the busy stenciling.

Lastly I add shading to the main shapes to make it look even more 3D.  To do this, I added stabillo all pencil in black, and activated it with water.  Adding little touches of dry brushed white paint makes the texture pop.

I hope you loved this project as much as I did, and I just love the texture and color it has. Why don’t you give this one a try for yourself.
