Imagine: Mixed Media on Paper

Today I have a mixed media piece on watercolor paper. I love flowers and the new winter 2019 stencil called Wisteria (TCW845) is one of my favorites.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

I took a 12″x6″ piece of watercolor paper adhered a piece of tissue paper to it with TCW Matte Gel Medium. When dry, I added watered down black paint to the background and let it drip. I love how the tissue paper adds great texture to a background.

Next I added the stencil to the background with TCW Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste and waited for it to dry. If you wait for the paste to dry, you can continue to add more of the stencil design on the paper.

As you can see I used both the 12×12 and the 6×6 on this paper. You can build up lots of layers like this with any of the TCW’s pastes.

The fun part of using TCW Light & Fluffy modeling paste is that when it’s wet again it soaks up all the paint. You can add lots of depth of color to create an exciting piece. Here I added all the shades of purple I had on hand. I even added a little green, white, and pearl paint.

I waited for it to complete dry and then added the wooden word, imagine, with some string behind it to finish the piece.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. We would love to see what you create with The Crafters Workshop Stencils and Mediums. You can share it with us on our Facebook page, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest using hashtag #tcwstencillove.
