DIY Glitter Gel

Hello everyone! It’s Lindsay from the Crafting While Caffeinated Blog & YouTube Channel here with you today, sharing another video tutorial! I absolutely LOVE using glitter in my card making and I have used glitter with my stencils before with the Tacky When Dry Gel Medium. You can find that video tutorial HERE. That technique is beautiful and works great, but for my cards today I wanted a full on glitter packed gel to really make my stenciled images sparkle! So after a little experimenting, I found a great way to make your own DIY glitter gels that can be used with all of your TCW stencils! Be sure to watch the video tutorial below for all the details!

For all the details on this technique, be sure to watch the video above. But keep reading for a few tips and tricks! First, you are going to need GLOSS Gel Medium. This technique will work with matte gel medium or even clear modeling paste, but for the best shine possible, stick with the glossy finish!

Second, mixing up the glitter gel is easy to do, but knowing when you have enough glitter mixed in can be a bit tricky. What I found is that you will know you have enough glitter when it starts to get a little gritty while mixing. The gel will still hold together, but as you are mixing, you’ll start to feel that gritty texture from all the glitter! Head up to the video for a good look at what this looks like! And as long as you put enough glitter into the gel medium, you won’t need any color underneath. The glitter will do all the work!

Finally, this technique works so well on paper, but I also tried it on vellum and canvas and it works great! So think outside the box of all the different projects you could use this on. It doesn’t just have to be cards! Also, because you’re encasing the glitter inside the gel, it doesn’t rub off AT ALL!!

I hope you all enjoyed today’s video tutorial! I know I can’t wait to try even more glitters with this new technique! If you are interested in any of The Crafter’s Workshop supplies I used today, you can find them all linked down below. Until next time, Happy Crafting!!
