In the Ocean’s Window

Hello again!

It’s Jennifer Gallagher joining you for my last post in January. It has been such a joy to share my love of The Crafter’s Workshop with all of you.

Marlene, of Art By Marlene, has some amazing stencils released by TCW. This project highlights her TCW809 Ocean Window twelve inch stencil.

I started off with a 16×20 inch sheet of canvas pad. Using a dry brush I applied TCW black modeling paste working across the surface in a cross-hatch motion. I made sure to leave lots of brush strokes and white space.

I had a large printed tissue paper face to use. So, slightly right of center, I used TCW white gesso to prepare the spot my face would go. Putting white gesso down before the tissue allows the white to really pop. Once dry, I adhered the face with matte medium.

After the matte medium dried thoroughly, I applied color using acrylic markers and a wet brush.

I arranged my stencil, TCW Ocean Window, over the face like a headdress. To keep it from slipping I taped it down with low tack washi tape.

With a palette knife I applied TCW platinum modeling paste across the stencil. I laid the canvas pad aside to dry. (Be sure to wash your stencils immediately after applying any medium like modeling paste.)

I cut up a tissue paper quote and adhered it with matte medium.

Now all that is left is to frame it and enjoy. I hope you have been inspired by my posts this month. If you try one of my projects be sure to tag me on Instagram.

As always, we would love to see what you create with The Crafter’s Workshop Stencils and Mediums, so be sure to tag your creations with #tcwstencillove.

Keep Creating,

Jennifer Gallagher
