Art Journaling with Alcohol Inks and Stencils

Happy New Year Everyone!!! I hope you all have had a lovely break with your family and friends. Farrel here to share with you all another art journal page I created using Ranger Alcohol Inks and TCW stencils. There is also a process video at the end of the blog if you wish to watch me in action.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

To begin with I painted over a page in my art journal using TCW9002 Black Gesso. The page I used was one I experimented with a while ago.

For my background I used a sheet of lightweight synthetic sheet by Darkroom Door and cut it to fit my small Dylusions art journal. I then used Alcohol Inks – Sunset Orange, Dandelion, Shell Pink, Citrus, Pool & Cool Peri by dripping some of the colour onto my sheet and adding a small amount of Blending solution. I then used a straw to blow the inks around the page.

Sometimes you will get some sticky parts where the alcohol ink hasn’t quite dried right. I used Mixed Media Transfer Foil in New Penny by Thermoweb & I just used my finger to rub over the areas.

Next I put a small amount of Alcohol Lift Off ink onto my foam blending tool and dabbed it over TCW810s Blooming Garden stencil. I used the 6×6 stencil for this, then using a clean paper towel I lightly rubbed the ink off the page.

I then added some stamping to the background and used TCW9011 Matte Gel Medium to adhere my Humming bird and sentiment stamped image to my page. Then adhered it to my art journal.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and remember to check out my video below.
