Transferring Photos to Canvas – An Easy DIY Gift

Hello Everyone! It’s Lindsay, from the Design Team, here with you today! I am super excited to share my project today. Not only is it super easy and a great home decor project, but these also make fabulous gifts! I am showing you how to use The Crafter’s Workshop Matte Gel Meduim and transfer your favorite photos onto canvas! Be sure to watch the full video tutorial down below so you can learn how to make your own!

For the complete tutorial be sure to watch the video above, but I want to share a few tips and tricks as well. First of all, although I use the Matte Gel Medium, you can use the gloss and it will work, too. I just happen to like the matte look, but if gloss is more your thing, go with that! You will also need to use laser printed images, so images that have toner. If you do not have a laser printer, you can take your photos to an office supply store and print copies on regular copy paper. You don’t want the pictures printed on photo paper or any type of heavier paper. Just plain computer paper is perfect for this technique!

For this technique you will need to buff away the paper once everything has dried. I used a wash cloth and my hands. The wash cloth gave me more of a distress look to my canvas, which I like. If you want a more perfect canvas, use a sponge in it’s place. It might take a little longer, but it won’t be near as rough.

After your canvas is done you will want to seal it so it can be handled and you aren’t worried about being damaged. Again, I use the Matte Gel Medium for this. It is the perfect sealant for this project, and dries to a flat matte finish with no sticky residue left behind!

I hope you all enjoyed today’s project! This is one of my favorite ways to display our family pictures in our home and I hope you love it too! I have linked all of The Crafter’s Workshop products that I used today down below! Thanks for stopping by and until next time, Happy Crafting!
