Fall’s Flowers – Its Different with Every Turn

Hi Everyone! I live in Connecticut and this week the leaves on the trees are just bursting with color. It’s the only thing I love about fall. I decided to create a project bursting with colorful leaves. The best part no matter which way you turn the piece everyone sees something different.

Lets get started. For this project I used the following:

TCW807s Script Dots
TCW609 Curious Owl Stencil
TCW9004 Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste
TCW9005 Modeling Paste

I used an old 6×6 wood sign. I first sanded it to take the stain off. Then I added dark blue paint to wood and let it dry.  Then I added different shades of blues and greens and used a baby wipe through the TCW Script Dots to take away the color.

I continued adding paint and wiping it off until I loved the background. There are many layers so a couple of the layers I dried before adding more.

I added the Script Dots stencil with TCW Modeling Paste. As you can see I did not put it on perfect. In fact in a few places I took my palette knife and smeared them a little.

When the modeling paste dried I added more paint to the dots with my fingers. This picture you can see where I smeared the modeling paste dots.

Using the Curious Owl stencil I only used the leaves to create my background.

To add more dimension to the piece I used some dark blue and shaded in some areas around the leaves. Then I used TCW Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste to add more leaves and painted them.

I love to paint the sides too.

What do you see?  Leaves hanging from a tree? Leaves reaching for the sky? Leaves floating in water? Leaves hanging over water?  With each turn someone has told me they see something different.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you see.

We would love to see what you create with The Crafters Workshop Stencils and Mediums. You can share it with us on our Facebook page, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest using hashtag #tcwstencillove.
