Creating a Cardboard Cover for a Junk Journal

Hi Everyone! I’ve never created a junk journal before so I decided to give it a try. I’m still gathering all my papers for it and looking at the papers I noticed a flower theme.  To start my project I decided start with my journal cover.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with stencils and mediums to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own because I do love to use them.

I used a piece of cardboard I had in my stash and added TCW690 Summer Burst stencil in pencil.

Using an X-Acto Knife I cut through the top layer of the design and pulled it off.

I try to use the more simple stencils without to much detail. If you want to try a more detailed stencil, shade in the areas you are going to cut away. It makes them easier to see.

For right now I think my carving is done on the cover. I may cut away a few more details with a different stencil design but not sure.  I will leave it as it is or paint it.

I’m not sure how I will finish the cover yet.  I will do something similar for the back cover. Once I have all the papers I want to add for the inside I will finish the cover and bind it all together.  I love using what I have on hand.

We would love to see what you create with The Crafters Workshop Stencils and Mediums. You can share it with us on our Facebook page, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest using hashtag #tcwstencillove.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
