Foiling with Stencils – 2 Ways – A Video Tutorial

Hi Everyone! It’s Lindsay (Crafting While Caffeinated) here with you today, sharing another video tutorial! I am on a foiling kick lately. It is such an easy way to add an extra WOW element to your paper crafts and there is so much versatility with foiling. Today, I want to share two different ways to add foiling to your projects with your stencils. They’re both equally beautiful, but do have different results. You can watch the full video tutorial down below for all the details.

A few tips to help you in foiling with your stencils. First of all, no matter what medium you do go with, you need to apply it as smooth as possible for the best adhesion of the foil. I used a plastic palette knife, however, I think an old gift card or credit card would be an even better option for smoothing out the medium!

Also with both mediums, you will need to account for dry time. The Tacky When Dry Gel Medium and Hot Foil Gel Medium both need to dry completely before you add foil to them. I just wanted to throw in this little reminder so you can remember to add in that dry time when planning your projects!

Both of these mediums and techniques provide beautiful results, but they are different. I think for a more polished look, the hot foil gel medium is the way to go. You do need to use it with a laminator, but you can find those pretty cheap! The Tacky When Dry Gel Medium is something that you don’t need anything special to make it work and it gives you a more distressed look!
