Magical Mystic Tree

Howdy Bloggers , Lisa here to share a new TCW blog update.
I’ve been playing with this beautiful stencil from the TCW Summer 2018 release, and have, yet again, created a canvas, which I imagine will disappear into my daughters room.

Mystic Tree TCW 814

I started with a canvas and using TCW Heavy Body acrylic paints created a circular rainbow of colour.

Out comes the TCW 814 Mystic Tree stencil and some TCW 9009 Black modeling paste

I used a large palette knife to apply the paste.

Don’t forget to take advantage of the paste on your stencil and run over that stencil to create perhaps one or two scrapbook page backgrounds.

At this point I allowed adequate drying time and evaluated my piece, which was off center. Whoops.

To distract the eye from my Faux Pas, I pulled out TCW 822 Jasmine Spray.  Using TCW9001 White Gesso, I painted around the whole canvas and using a baby wipe wiped off the gesso leaving the stencil mask effect * which is a personal fave.

Again , re evaluation time. I needed to balance the whole piece, by adding TCW 9017 Lemon Custard and TCW 9018 Orange Slice to the edges-to help tell the story around the canvas- and introducing black -to support the black texture of the tree, for which I used TCW 9015 Black Licorice Heavy Body acrylic paint.

A little text around the focal point  and after one more evaluation,

I am all good with the result..and so is Miss 19.

Thanks a bunch for dropping by the TCW blog today.

I’ll be back soon with another The Crafter’s Workshop update.
