Let your Stencils be the Hero

Howdy Folks, Lisa here with another TCW arty update .

I have been reworking a few canvases, so today I am sharing a piece that simply came to life by just adding some super fabulous TCW stencils. I had started this canvas last year and created something I just was not really happy with ….So I put it away. After a recent visit from a creative friend, I was charged with mojo and today took to this piece with gusto. I’m loving the results. No video for this one, just a simple step by step.

I started with this piece above. Basic vibrant acrylic paints, adding one of my all time favorite TCW stencil – TCW381 Quatrefoil. It’s an older stencil, but it is one of my well used, leather like stencils.  From there I started to drip paint, in an attempt to downplay the cyclic focal point.

Then it was all about layering more stencil images. Firstsly by adding paint to the canvas then laying down the stencil over the damp paint and using the wipe back technique, I removed the paint, through the stencil, with a baby wipe.

Lots of stencils (all listed below), while always repeating the same image in odd numbers and working around the piece to give flow and continuity.

Here is the list of TCW Stencil goodness I used to create this baby.

TCW 806 Spanish Tile, TCW 810 Blooming Garden,

TCW 811 Floral Statement, TCW 815 Magnolia Blossoms,

TCW 822 Jasmine Spray, TCW Rose Bouquet .

Thanks a bunch for dropping by the TCW blog today.

I hope this vibrant piece has inspired you to break out your TCW stencils and create. I will be back very soon with another blog containing colourful TCW arty goodness.
