Hello TCW fans!! Farrel here to share with you an art journal page I created using some of the new 2018 winter release stencils. For this post I decided to go a little grungy and am so happy with how it all turned out. I do have a process video at the end of the blog if you would like to see me in action.
To start I used a rubber brayer and some chalk acrylic paints to build my background. I used a piece of smooth white cardstock for this technique.
Next I used TCW9016 Spun Sugar Heavy Body Acrylic Paint and with a make up sponge, I applied the paint through TCW807 Script Dots in the 6×6.
Using the same stencil, I sprayed Dylusions Spray Slate Grey and wiped the excess off with a paper towel.
I felt it needed a little more “pop” so I used TCW805 Newport Tiles in the 6×6 and sprayed with Dylusions Spray Tangerine Dream.
Next I decided to cover a page I had experimented on a while ago using TCW9002 Black Gesso. I only applied the gesso around the edges as I don’t like wasting products and the center of the page will be covered with the cardstock.
I stamped my mason jar and moths onto white cardstock and trimmed the jar. I then used the chalk paint to add colour to the jar. I adhered the background cardstock to my art journal page. I then decided to add 1 more layer using TCW804 Mesh Blocks in the 6×6 and acrylic chalk paint.
I added some more stamping to the background of the page and then adhered my sentiment and mason jar. To finish it off I added some shading using my Distress Crayon in Black Soot.
Thanks for dropping and I hope I have inspired you to create in your art journal.
