For this design post, I used four of the gorgeous new Winter 2018 stencils and two of the luscious new modeling pastes. And yes, it’s ok to layer a modeling paste on top of another one after it’s dry. Let’s go!

TCW9001 White Gesso, TCW9011 Clear Gel Medium,
TCW9016 Spun Sugar, TCW 9013 Iridescent Gold,
TCW9014 Iridescent Silver,
TCW9040 White Pearl Modeling Paste,
TCW9042 Sterling Silver Modeling Paste,
TCW787 Architexture, TCW768 Journal Musings,
TCW781 Scrollwork, TCW755 Modern Lace

To begin, I always gesso my journal page before adding any paint. Then I added a first layer of stencil using Iridescent Gold acrylic paint and the Architexture stencil.

Next I adhered a napkin using Clear Gel Medium. I like how the Architexture stencil can be seen through the wrinkly napkin.

To add some color, I mixed some rust paint with Spun Sugar to make a color that matched the pinkish color in the napkin, and then painted around the napkin.

I added a second layer of stencil all over the page using Iridescent Silver and the Journal Musings stencil.

Using White Pearl Modeling Paste and the Scrollwork stencil, I added a third layer of stenciling; but first, to make sure I didn’t stencil the napkin, I laid a piece of paper on top.

Once the White Pearl paste was dry, I taped off a section of Modern Lace and added a border around the napkin using the Sterling Silver Modeling Paste.

So I didn’t smear the paste, I had to complete the border in two different time periods. First, I stenciled above and below the napkin, and after that dried, I stenciled the sides.

Finally, I swiped the edges with a brown ink pad to age the page and then added the word “grow”.
