Remember This Mixed Media Layout by Farrel Tailor

Hello there TCW fans!!

I hope everyone is well and are ready to start the working week with some inspiration. I decided my new year’s resolution this year was to use more stencils on my scrapbooking layouts. Lately I found that for me it was easier to use stencils on my art journals or canvas’s rather than using them on my layouts. So I have made it my mission to use stencils more on my layouts and am super happy with how my layout turned out and I hope you like it just as much as I do.

Now to sit back and relax as I show you my process in creating this layout

I started by sealing my white cardstock with TCW9006 Gel Medium Gloss, I am a huge fan of this medium as it adds such a nice finish on my layouts. To apply the gel medium, I used my silicone brush but you can use an old credit card or gift card.

Once the Gel Medium is dry, I then start on my background. I spray some Prima Color Bloom spray – Fairy Pond onto some cling wrap and then smoosh the spray around my layout. The gel medium stops the spray from being soaked up by the cardstock and this lets me manipulate the spray.

The next step I used TCW605 Elliptic stencil with Dylusions Paint – Black Marble and a make up sponge. I only used the outside circle pattern on my layout.

I decided that the original colour I used for my background wasn’t as bright as what I have hoped for, so I sprayed some Dylusions spray – Calypso Teal onto my cling wrap. For this step I folded my cling wrap a few times and crumpled it so I got a better texture for the background.

To add more texture I used Colour Blast Australia Colour Paste – Sunshine and TCW773s Connected Dots stencil. Once I had stenciled the background, I then reversed the stencil and stamped using the paste that was left on the stencil.

The last stencil I used for my background is TCW767s Floral Radar. I love this stencil and applied Dylusions paint with a make sponge and only used the radar pattern.

Now to add my embellishments, I stamped some stars onto some white cardstock and used TCW9017 Heavy Body Acrylic Paint – Lemon Custard to paint my stars. I also used this paint on my chipboard title after I applied TCW9001 White Gesso, and used a sponge to apply both white gesso and paint to my Dusty Attic Chipboard.

To finish off the layout I added some stamping using Black Archival ink. Because Gel Medium was applied to the cardstock, you need to use either Stazon or Archival Ink as it is permanent and won’t smear or rub off once dry. I also added some more sprays to the top and bottom of the layout and applied the Lemon Custard paint using my finger in a dabbing motion.
