HARLEQUIN HALLOWEEN

HARLEQUIN HALLOWEEN

October is here and I’m kicking off the month with a colorful and shiny Halloween spread. Hi, art friends, it’s Patty and I’m using some great products from our partners Therm-o-web Products, Altered Pages, along with The Crafter’s Workshop products to make this two-page spread in my mini journal.

Note: I am a Design Team member for The Crafter’s Workshop; however, even though I use and love their products, all opinions are solely my own.

Altered Pages

I knew I wanted to use this Altered Pages digital image of the woman in a beautiful harlequin dress so I planned my page around that. I printed my image on 100% cotton, white, 32 lb. resumé paper, cut it out and mounted it onto black paper.

On a gessoed page, I began by painting some Orange Slice.

After drying that I added Black Modeling Paste using the 6” x 6” Mini Harlequin stencil and let that dry thoroughly. (NOTE: Make sure to wash your stencil immediately after using the modeling paste.)

I wanted to mimic her dress so I decided to use the Fancy Foils.

First, I painted the iCraft deco foil liquid adhesive on the part that had no black modeling paste. After letting that dry for 2 hours, I used a bone folder to apply the Fancy Foils. I found it applied easier if I pressed harder.

I also wanted to add larger pumpkins so I applied and burnished with a plastic spoon a sheet of Sweet Mango foil to a half sheet of the Rebekah Meier Designs mixed media adhesive sheets. I then cut out 3 pumpkins from this. Next, I applied and burnished a small amount of the Wild Dandelion to the mixed media adhesive sheets for the eyes and noses of the pumpkins and glued those on the pumpkins. I added eyeballs and a mouth with a black sharpie.

I enlarged the poem from the bottom of the image, printed on the same paper as above, and cut it out. I outlined the words and phrases using a black ink pad, and then adhered them to the journal page. I finished by adding a swipe around the perimeter with black ink.

Thanks for dropping by The Crafter’s Workshop blog. You can also scoot over to my blog at arteverydaystudio.blogspot.com. Like I always say, “Art in the Studio makes every day a good day.”

Until next time, keep making art, friends!

Patty 😉
