Hello Crafters!
Today I want to show you how I made this Mixed Media Canvas using just a couple of stencils.
Supplies needed :
- TCW389 Fancy Feathers
- TCW191 Bricks
- TCW9001 White Gesso
- TCW9011 Matte Gel Medium
- TCW9005 Modeling Paste
Note: I am a Design Team member for The Crafter’s Workshop; however, even though I use and love their products, all opinions are solely my own.
I started by covering the canvas with gesso. Then I randomly layered down pieces of tissue wrap paper. To glue the paper down I used Gel medium. I made sure to add Gel Medium also above the paper so that they would be properly sealed down.
When everything was sealed perfectly I added another layer of thin gesso. Then I grabbed the stencils and used modeling paste through them. I wanted the image to be really “heavy” so I used a lot of modeling paste and I didn’t smothered out.
I let the modeling paste air dry. I think this is so important because the heat tool will melt it and it will not hold its shape. Or maybe this is what I experienced. Maybe my heat tool is too strong and powerful…I don’t know, I just know that when I let the modeling paste air dry I love the result even more.
When the modeling paste was dry, the fun came in! It was time to add color! I choose my favorite color palette and started adding colors around the whole stenciled images. Feathers and Bricks. I also used a black pencil to highlight some part of the stencils.
I added a cluster with a photo and the title and also a couple of stickers to tell a story.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this easy project!
We would love to see what you create with The Crafters Workshop Stencils and Mediums.
