Art journal page – Unicorn

hello everyone!

I am here today to share with you one of my favourite art journal pages I have created in a long time.  I absolutely love how it turned out and had a really hard time to stop doodling on it as you can see!

Please note though I  have received some of the products from The Crafter’s Workshop that I have used on this project, my opinions of the products are solely my own.

I started out by applying some raspberry sorbet around the edges of my page using a sponge.

I then continued to add different colours in the warm pallette going lighter towards the centre of my page. I wasn’t worried about the obvious markings of the sponge at this point as I knew this was just my base layer.

now I wanted to add a bit of stencilling so using various stencils and some black acrylic paint I did the edges of the page. As you can see in the below picture when doing this I had laid a piece of paper on top in order to ensure I only used the bits of the stencil I wanted.

As I wasn’t quite sure where I wanted to go from here I added a few of those cute clouds. After all, it is all about layering right…

Then as I was going through my stencils one of them literally fell out of the stack…. a UNICORN…that is exactly what this page needs !! I added some paints to the edge of my craft mat  and by blending in darks and adding some white I was getting the look I wanted.

I absolutely love how the unicorn colouring is such a dark contrast to the background.

Then it was a matter of adding in a few more elements. I had started doodling around my original doodles but it just wasn’t enough so out came another stencil!

I then took out my black and white pens and just circled and circled and circled!!!  And here once again is my finished piece. I love how the whites on the front of my unicorn reminds me of moonlight shining on her face…..hmmmm now that has me thinking of another page!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this easy project!
