A couple of weeks ago, I shared an art journal page with you that I created about my word of the year, Flourish. Having a guiding word for the year is an ongoing process of evaluation for me. When I start to question things, I tend to turn to my art journal to work it out! Below are the steps I took…The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. This post also contains affiliate links. The opinions I share are solely my own.
I gathered up a few stencils, my handmade cardboard journal and a piece of scrap that I had journaled on.
In order to tie in the piece of stencil design already on my page, I used the 12×12 Tile Mania stencil and both yellow and orange to finish out the background.
In keeping with my flourish theme, I added bright pink flowers with the 6×6 Cone Flowers stencil and doodled a bit around them with a white paint pen.
Matte gel medium was used to adhere my scrap of deli paper with my journaling words. Since the deli paper had touches of green on it, I extended that color throughout the page with the 6×6 Endless Swirls stencil.
I wanted a little dimension on the page, so I chose one of the wing designs from the 12×12 Fairywings stencil and some Light & Fluffy modeling paste to give it texture.
Once the modeling paste was dry, I placed the stencil back over the wings and added a layer of gold gesso for some shine.
The final touches were to reinforce my wording with a black paint pen, as well as use the pen for a few more doodling marks. I edged the page with a black ink pad and called it done!
Thanks for joining me today…
