Gold Gesso Fun with Karenliz

Hi Everyone! The Crafter’s Workshop came out with mediums this year and I love the Gold Gesso! So today’s post I thought I would show you how I have been using it.

Shimmering Gold Gesso is gorgeous. It’s not like the white gesso which is opaque. Gold Gesso is more translucent.   I like to use it on paper and it looks wonderful in crackled mediums.

karenliz_goldgessofun_tcwdt-2I also like to apply with a palette knife but if you think you project is ruined because you spilled water all over it (like I did), think again!  I just let it dry and it now looks like this. Love it!!!

karenliz_goldgessofun_tcwdt-3For this project I applied TCW’s Modeling Paste to a 5×5 canvas with Daisy Chain stencil and let it dry. Then I painted it in shades of blue and a little black.

When the paint was dry, I added Gold Gesso it and made sure it was brushed in all the nooks and crannies and then spayed it with a little water. The water helped spread it a little more. I waited for a few minutes and took a paper towel and wiped it away.  If you look closely you can see all the shimmer in it.

I could imagine doing this same technique on four 12×12 canvas and hanging them on the wall. Couldn’t you?

karenliz_goldgessofun_tcwdt-8There are so many more ways to use Gold Gesso. You’ll just have to get some yourself to try it.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
