Karenliz Henderson
Hi everyone Karenliz here to show you a quick technique you can do using the wonderful Chameleon Pens and the new stencils from The Crafter’s Workshop. I love to experiment with products and the Chameleon Pens are alcohol based so this technique is the perfect one to create a great background.
I cut Yupo into ATC (Artist Trading Card) size and using the green and blue pens from the primary set I scribbled over the Yupo.
Next, I sprayed the Yupo with alcohol (spray in a well ventilated place) and let it sit and dry. Since the pens are alcohol based the colors mixed together nicely.
When it dried, I put The Sea stencil over it and used a paper towel with alcohol and wiped away the ink to reveal the stencil design.
Here is my finished ATC.
I hope you enjoyed my technique and inspired you to try it.
Jenni Calma
Hi friends! Jenni here to share a scrapbook layout I made for The Crafter’s Workshop Blog and today’s Friend Friday with Chameleon Pens.
The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.
I wanted to document our recent trip to the Georgia Aquarium and thought the new 6×9 stencil ‘The Sea’ to make some embellishments for my page.I started with the ‘Tribal Fish’ 12×12 stencil and the new Gel Medium. I am SO excited about these new mediums that have just been released. They are so fun to play with and this Gel is like the smoothest cake icing! After the lay of gel medium is dry, I painted a light wash of blues over the stenciled cardstock. While my watercolor is drying, I use a finger dauber and some sticky Versamark ink over all of the little fish on ‘The Sea’ stencil. I added the ink onto a scratch piece of paper, but turn the stencil over to press the inked portion onto smooth paper.I wanted to use the Chameleon Pens to color the fish, so I used the stencil to emboss the positive part of the stencil, leaving the negative spaces to color. I add white embossing powder and heat it after each stenciled fish. Using small scissors, I fussy cut all the fish out.I use OR4- Sevillle Orange and BR2-Hot Cocoa for the fish and YG3-Spring Meadow for the 2 seashorses I embossed.I love the way the seahorses turned out. I am anxious to try the pens on a larger project. The pens are truly an amazing creation, perfect for traveling! Finally, I used couple different color threads to stitch lines down the right side of the page, mimicking the ceiling decorations throughout the aquarium.
I added a foam word sticker for my title and some journaling.
I am so pleased with the way it all turned out! I hope you are inspired to try out these clever markers!

Today I thought I would share my love of mandalas with you! They are my go-to for some serious stress relief.
I used the fabulous Chameleon Pens and one of the new Crafter’s Workshop stencils, the 6×6 Daisy Chain. By adding in some freehand doodling, I was able to create a bright, colorful mandala!
I started by tracing the outside of the stencil with a pencil. I also added a few marks to partition off the different designs on the stencil.
The next step in my plan had me adding in each of the primary colors of the Chameleon pens to create sections of gradated color. Because I was attempting to fill in pretty large areas, I did add the Toning Medium to each of the brush tips for at least 40 secs.
I then placed the stencil back on my circle of color and used the bullet nib of the black pen to trace some of the openings in the stencil. This is a great way to make each mandala you create unique. There are so many fun designs within this one stencil, that I could choose to trace a different set to make a completely different affect!
By then adding in some of my own freehand doodling using both the brush and bullet nibs on the black pen, I was able to finish off this fabulous piece of art in my journal. The Chameleon Pens are a great addition to your pen and marker collection! The gradated color adds a totally new aspect to creating backgrounds. Thanks for joining me while I played with these fun pens! Consie
