Embossing a Metal Look

Hello to all you lovely crafter’s out there. Shanna here with a new fun technique you should give a try.

*The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.*

First I started with a coat of a gel medium and then just some regular household foil. You can of course use a craft foil as well for this technique.

I used a bone folder to smooth the foil down as best as possible.

Once dry I trimmed the foil down to the size of the tag.

Then I created a sandwich for my Cuttlebug using the stencil TCW2075 – Hot Air Balloon Fragment. Make sure you use the right type of “sandwich” for your type of machine to emboss with.

Here is what the outcome should look like.

Side Note: I accidentally cut on my “not to cut on pad” so when I embossed the stencil some of the cuts that were on my acrylic pad embossed on the foil as well.

Then I went over the tag with some Distress Paints.

Let it dry. Once dry take a sanding block and gentle buff off the raised areas.

I embellished the tag with a metal sentiment and some colored seam binding ribbon. This was my first time trying this technique. I had so much fun and I hope that you would give it a try too.  TCWMetalEmboss7 TCWMetalEmboss8 TCWMetalEmboss9
