An art journal page for you today… you could easily use the techniques to create a canvas, card or whatever you’d like to make!

A STEP-BY-STEP:
Adhere tissue wrap to the page with decoupage glue. Apply a coat of decoupage glue over the wrap as well, and leave to dry.
Apply a thin watered down layer of gesso, leaving parts of the background in its original blackness (eg. the butterfly). Parts you want to ‘hide’ a bit, add an additional layer of gesso.
Use the ‘Screen Print’ stencil to apply texture paste to the page, and leave to dry. 
Sponge the background with distress inks, and mist with water to make the colors blend. 
Use the ‘Word Association’ stencil to add the word “Happy” with texture paste. Don’t you just love that?
Use the ‘Screen Print’ stencil to add the dragonfly with texture paste. It started wobbling a bit when I dried it with a heat tool, so maybe it’s best to leave it to air dry, unless you like it this way, of course!
As you can see on this photograph, I scraped some color off the initial colored texture paste, to give it a vintage feel.
Draw around the dragonfly and the word happy with a black non-permanent marker, and ‘wash’ away most of it with a wet cloth, or a brush with water (dab up the excess).
Add white with white acrylic paint to the dragonfly and the word ‘Happy’ by first putting the stencil back on.
