Thank You Card for Pen Pal

Hello friends!  It’s Carmen and I’m back with you today to share a Thank You card I made for a dear pen pal I have.  Do people still have pen pals in this day of technology?  Well, I do and she’s the dearest lady.  We’ve been writing and sending care packages to each other for about 4 years now and it never gets old.

Thanks Card

This week I wanted to send her a special handmade card to really express how much I appreciate her encouragement and loyalty.

I started with Strathmore Mixed Media card taped to my craft sheet and a paper towel underneath to protect the card from runs.  Using a very wet #9 flat brush I applied Americana Acrylic Paint in Desert Turquoise, Light Avocado, Wasabi Green and Antique Teal to create the background.  I was going for a garden look, so these colors would be perfect for that.  I love these cards because the can take a lot of wet medium, and anything you add to them.

Using the same acrylic paints, I started creating the foliage.  First with TCW 548s Mini Herbarium.

Thanks card 5

Then continuing to layer with TCW 534s Mini Bay Branches and TCW 516s Mini Falling Seeds.  I added Driftwood color acrylic paint with the mini falling seeds stencil to add more dimension.

In keeping with the pen pal theme, I stamped the background with one of my favorite stamps, Hero Arts wood block script stamp and Staz-On ink pad in Emerald City.

Thanks card 7

I wanted to fill in the foliage a little more so I stamped Paper Wings Productions Carved Bits stamps with Staz-On in Ganache.

Thanks card 8

I added the word Thanks with my Faber-Castell Big Brush Pen in Black.

And don’t forget the envelope…
