We recently had to attend the funeral of a dear family friend and as many of us do, I turned to my art to deal with some of the emotions such an event can bring up.
Taking step by step photos was not something I felt like I could do, so instead I set up my video camera to capture my process for you.

Making the card was a great way to work through my feelings and connect with the memories of my friend. That is one of the great tools creatives have…the ability to use our art as a way to work out our thoughts through pictures, words, colors, doodling, stenciling, etc. For me, it lessens the stress and bring a bit of peace.
The stencils I used to create the card were: Mini Cathedral of Love, Mini Flying Garden and Word Association. I used acrylic paints and makeup sponges to add all the colors. The final doodling was done with a Micron pen and a white gel pen.
I hope the process video gives you some ideas for creating your own greeting cards. Is there an occasion coming up that you can make a custom designed card for?
