“Hindsight” Art Journal with The Crafter’s Workshop

Hello Creatives!

Keri Sallee here!

It has been B-E-A-UTIFUL here in Arkansas and while my littles were playing in the sprinkler recently, I took a few supplies outside and played in my art journal.

I started with a “watercolor” background using Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pen that I scribbled on and then used a wet brush to move it around.

I would like to say those water spots were some stroke of creative genius, but…alas…it wasn’t. The kids hit me with the sprinkler! LOL. But..it works!

Here are all of the paint products I used for my background.

Now for some stenciling! I used 3 VERY different stencils by 3 VERY different designers for the project.  (All are 6×6):

“Fly Away” by Rebekah Meier (TCW526S)

“Eye Chart” by Dina Wakley (TCW349S)

“Stone Ring” by Kasia Krzyminska (TCW553S)

Here is my “naked” background after I added my first stencil. The IrRESISTables from Imagine Crafts are AMAZING with stencils. It gives a slightly glossy finish and you can paint over it with out it moving!

Keepin’ in real…I originally was going to go a different way with this page, so I added the bird to my background….AND then…INSPIRATION changed my direction so I made my little birdy just a fun element in the background.

I used my “Stone Ring” stencil with the FIREWORKS from Imagine Crafts to add some interest to by background before I added my title and my eye.

I free handed my eye, using a Scribe-All Pencil in Black, gesso, Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pen in Aqua and Black and Design Memory Craft Gelatos.

As you can see, I used my “Eye Chart” stencil again, this time with a dark teal ink, just to reinforce my theme.

So there you go! I used 3 VERY different stencils from 3 VERY different designers and made one harmonious piece of art!

I hope enjoyed today’s project and it inspires you to mix and match styles!

XOXO,

KERI Sallee
