Spring is in the air!

Hey there creatives, Rita Barakat here and spring is in the air! When I received the hummingbird stencil I wanted  to use it on something springlike. I have this spiral Memory Book from DCWV and I have been slowly decorating it . Most of the pages are kraft paper with black accents so I needed to prime it with Gesso first.

As you can see there are flowers already on the page, you can still see the lines underneath the gesso but the gesso allows me to get true color from my paints. I drew around (PITT pastel pencil) the area where I knew I would  save.

I used another coat of Gesso on the areas where I did not want to see the design.  Not fully opaque but I knew that when I added color later it would cover up these areas.

Here is where I used my first stencil, I used a little texture paste (whipped spackle) colored it with several layers of paint ( Twinkling H2o’s).

I felt like my bird needed a friend so I added another, this one I did not fill in. I also added some mists with water ( the background was covered with Gelatos first), you can see where the  water activated the Gelatos to form those little circles.

I went back and added more dimension with this stencil and and date.

Not to mention this fun little date stencil and another bird (texture paste+ Twinkling H2o’s) The possibilities are endless with The Crafters Workshop Stencils, not to mention spring is in the air! What will you create?

Stencils used
TCW519 Hummingbirds,
TCW541 Believe
& TCW2068 “2015” fragments

Blessings!
Rita
