Hello Creatives!
Keri Sallee here and today I want to share with you a recent Art Journal opening page I did using Rebekah Meier’s “Cathedral of Love” 6×6 Stencil (TCW532S.)
I started by doing a drip technique for my background using Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft (C) Gelatos in Black Cherry and Licorice and water. To achieve this look, I dripped Black Cherry from the top and then flipping the page over and dripping the Licorice from the bottom. While it was still wet, I used the handle of a paint brush to scratch lines into the paint.
Once that was dry, I used my “Cathedral of Love” 6×6 stencil and scraped Golden Crackle Paste through it.
I allowed ample time for my crackle paste to dry. To bring out the cracks, I made mixture of Licorice Gelatos and water on my palette, lightly “painted” over my cathedral doors and then wiped away the excess with a paper towel. I did this a few times, allowing some places to become darker than other.
I added splashes of Adirondack Dapper Paint in “Pool” (lightly watered down) and Golden High Flow Paint in “Yellow Fluorescent.” I also used my flourescent yellow to make a “blob” in the bottom right corner of my “door.”
Allow to dry.
To finish it off, I added a plastic sentiment from Tim Holtz on top of my fluorescent yellow “blob” and added some gold outlining and details with my gold Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft (C) PITT Artist Pen.
Until Next time!
XOXO,
