Hello everybody, Sanna here again. One of my favorite stencils at the moment is the “circle regiment“, because it is so versatile to use. Today I´d like to share a layout with you where I used that stencil with stamp inks. Hope you like this step-by-step!
I used the following materials for this layout: one sheet of patterned paper, “Circle Regiment” stencil, black and grey inks, white Sharpie, pencil, ink blending tool, black pen, and a selection on stamps.
First I always mark the area where my photos will be with a pencil – the markings help me with my next step.
Next I added some distress ink “pumice stone” over the stencil with an ink blending tool. Because I have marked the area my photos will cover, I only need to add ink next to that area. Naturally I could go “over” the lines too, but I prefer to work this way :).
After that I changed the color to a darker grey tone (“soft granite” by Hero Arts) and added some more ink over the previous circles (when the shadow ink dries it will get much lighter in tone as it is in this photo).
Next I used the same stencil as a doodling guide and added some random circles with a black pen.
After that I wanted to add some more interest to the background so I stamped different stamp images with black and grey ink over the stencilled area.
Finally I additionally outlined some of the circles with a white Sharpie for more contrast.
And I again went for ink splatters in the end…but this time I used a white ink :). Now the background is finished.
For finishing touches I just added some alphas and embellishments.
Happy stenciling and I hope you liked this little tutorial! See you soon!
xoxo, Sanna
