Stencils & White Embossing Powder Resist

Just saw this on Donna Downey’s blog.  It’s a tutorial by Maria McGuire using white embossing powder as a resist technique (on white paper, of course...think about black or clear embossing powder as a resist on black paper!!)

You can see all of the instructions on Donna’s blog as well as on Maria’s blog.  I’ll just repost some of the highlights using our stuff...

Maria uses a VersaMark pad (clear embossing pad) directly through the template and onto the tag.

She then sprinkled white embossing powder onto the inked up areas (see where it’s kind of beige (inked) in the first photo and then white (powder) in the second photo? That’s where the embossing powder stuck.  Then heat it with a heat gun (do NOT let the heat gun heat up the stencil, it will melt it!!)
Now Maria just brushed over the area with watercolors.  The color “sticks” to the un-embossed areas and “resists” the embossed areas.  NICE!!
Here’s the finished project.  Great stuff, Maria!! Thanks!
